Many building defects start at the top, and the top is exactly where inspection is hardest, most expensive and most often skipped.
What drones make possible
High-resolution drone photography allows detailed inspection of roof coverings, flashings, chimneys, parapets, valley gutters and high-level masonry without scaffolding, towers or roof access. Defects can be identified, recorded and monitored at a fraction of the cost and risk of physical access, and areas that would never justify scaffolding can be inspected routinely.
Part of the investigation, not a substitute for it
Drone imagery is most valuable when interpreted by a surveyor who understands construction and decay. We use drone capture alongside our ground-level inspection, moisture investigation and monitoring, the high-level evidence feeding the same diagnostic approach: find the sources and pathways of moisture before specifying repair.
Beyond inspection
Through our connected practice, SMT Vizion, drone capture extends to photogrammetry, measured surveys and 3D modelling, turning inspection imagery into accurate records and drawings of the building.
